Maintenance of Flameproof Equipment

The course in the maintenance of flameproof equipment is presented in a specially designed training centre with all the necessary flameproof equipment needed to train students on both the theoretical as well as the practical aspects of the maintenance of flameproof equipment.

The course is presented over a period of two weeks which includes the theoretical assessment (computer based) and a practical assessment.

Pass rate for the theoretical assessment is 90% (for each module) and 100% for the practical assessment.

  • Methane, coal dust and hydrogen
  • Standards and modifications
  • Flameproof enclosures
  • Intrinsically safe circuits and instruments
  • Increased safety apparatus - Type "E"
  • Diesel engines
  • Flameproof termination boxes and lighting
  • Electric cables
  • Electrical protection of mining equipment
